Abstract
The topic of this thesis is forms of address in the contemporary colloquial Dutch language. The research is aimed at the language performances – forms of address by using pronouns, titles, personal and family names and avoiding forms of address as a communicational strategy, reflecting symmetrical or asymmetrical communication situations on the corpus-based research. The targeted corpus is the Dutch talk show De Wereld Draait Door (DWDD), chosen because the communication on that television programme faithfully reflects the spontaneous, everyday communication. Previous researches of similar topics are primarily based on communication sciences and are related to the forms of address in the newspapers and on the radio, while this research is based on the analysis of recorded spoken language and scientific results of J.A.M. Vermaas (2002).
