Abstract
Theoretical part of this paper elaborates specifics of single parent families and their position in society and relationship between school and single parent families. Empirical part of this paper shows research whose aim was to find out teacher's perception of single parent families and teacher's experiences in cooperation with them. In order to answer research questions, we chose qualitative approach for collecting and analyzing data. For data collection we used focus groups. Analysis of the results included the systematization and classification responses of participants. Results show that teacher's experiences with single parent families are mostly positive, but they differ in opinion about involvement comparing to two parent families. Teacher's attitude towards single parent families changed in positive way or hasn't changed at all and teachers think they achieve quality relationship with all family structures. Teachers see difficulties for cooperation in parents, but adjust cooperation with families according to specifics. Results enable better insight on single parent families’ position in society and school and show lack of teachers’ sense about their difficulties.
