Abstract
This work through the five chapters handles the topic of managing cultural heritage, most notably the use of the cultural heritage for tourism purposes.
The theme is processed through a concrete example of the city of Šibenik and its fortresses, which are reconstructed one after another, and give a new dimension to the cultural offer of the city. The first part of the work deals with the general concept of the management of cultural heritage, and then describe the three existing reconstruction projects of Šibenik's fortresses, placed in context of Šibenik’s tourist potential. In the next part of the work, few projects from Croatia and abroad are presented, on topic of building cultural tourism based on exploitation, sometimes even of conversion, the existing cultural heritage. Last part of the work takes detailed analysis of the St. Michael fortress after the reconstruction, through the prism of the program during the first three seasons of the functioning of the summer stage, but also through the prism of financial results in those three years. Based on that follows the conclusion taken around the St. Michael fortress and possible further development, and also the general vision of the functioning of the renovated fortification facility.
