Abstract
This thesis presents the role of archives in the digital environment and the importance of digital archives. Digital archives are very significant today because they connect users with institutions. The thesis also indicates electronic records as the main subject of contemporary archives and as the fundamental resource of digital archives. In that context the thesis also mentions the management and storage of those materials. Furthermore, for the purpose of this thesis an analysis of the survey conducted among the Croatian archivists is given.
