Abstract
Since they are born, baby girls are considered differently from the boys. With time the differences are more and more visible - girls are encouraged to express their own emotions, learn to be polite etc. These and similar identification marks for girls, but different and often opposed for boys, contribute to the irregular perception of their potential role. Accordingly, in this paper is given theoretical presentation of gender stereotypes already in small children. Empirically, attention is focused on initial education of pre-school teachers by analyzing university curricula and surveying early-school and pre-school education students. The main goal is examining the presence of relevant topics, familiarity of students with gender-related topics and influence of education on their values, and examine their opinions about the quality of education. The results of the analysing the curriculum indicate a lack of courses and contents about gender issues and gender equality, as can be seen in the analysis of data collected by the surveys.
