Abstract
Over the last few years, mobile dating apps such as Tinder have become an increasingly popular way of meeting potential romantic partners among young adults. Such apps use GPS based technology to track users’ locations and enable them to connect and meet, quick and easy. Dating apps can therefore affect the socialization of young adults, primarily by enabling users to expand their social network. Despite this, some authors believe that the rise of dating apps could completely replace all other forms of communication and forming intimate relationships among young adults. The conducted study found that mobile dating apps don’t have a lot of users in Croatia. The most common reason for using dating apps is curiosity, and for not using the preference of live, face to face communication. Therefore, mobile dating apps are not replacing all other forms of communication, and young people still prefer to meet potential romantic partners in more traditional ways.
