Abstract
This paper is organized in two parts. The first is an introduction from the viewpoint of the history of art to the subject field of this terminology work – early medieval sculpture in southern Dalmatia – as well as an overview of research conducted on this topic and the terminology used by researchers, including the few attempts made at its classification. The second part is dedicated to the methodology used and the problems encountered, illustrated by examples of certain terms. Here we also describe the process of creating the end products: bilingual glossary (Croatian-French), concept diagrams, terminology records and translations. Finally, we reflect upon the possibilities and benefits of a similar interdisciplinary approach to this subject matter in the future.
